DEREK MURO is a Los Angeles-based composer, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist working in music for visual media. He has also written concert, theater and dance works that have been heard across the U.S. and Europe. He has released music on several record labels both in groups and as a solo artist. He studied composition at Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School.

With long-time collaborator Zach Abramson, Derek has created music under the moniker Mighty Five since 2005. After the release of their first LP Vortexx in 2008, Mighty Five has gone on to produce remixes and collaborate with several recording artists (Savoir Adore, French Horn Rebellion, Goldenbug) in addition to contributing music and arrangements to live dance and theatrical productions. The show was further developed and read as part of the Yale Institute for Music Theatre in June 2012.

After a stint assisting various composers at Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions, Derek co-scored the film Mateo with David Perlick-Molinari, premiering at SXSW Film in 2014.
